Most seniors opt to have their senior photos taken the summer before their senior year. Sometimes it can be tough to book a session with a senior’s busy schedule during the school year! But really, there’s no ‘wrong’ time to book your session. Choose your favorite season, and go from there!
Bring props to the shoot that are meaningful to you, but less is more. We can work with your uniforms, musical instruments, sports equipment or well-loved dance shoes. If you're graduating from college, champagne or something related to your major is always fun! I use props minimally in senior shoots, but they are fun to have and incorporate into your session.
This is ultimately up to you. I will chat with you and help you decide what would be best for your family. It depends on what your family is like and what you would like the photographs to look like. I can come to your own home, or we can head out somewhere that you enjoy spending time, or I can suggest options!
Sessions usually take place on a week day morning or evening, within two hours of sunrise or two hours of sunset. These exact times vary throughout the year based on the season!
If you can, plan your session at least 2-3 weeks after a haircut. That will give your hair a chance to grow into its new style. Freshly cut hair can sometimes look and feel a bit unlike yourself. You know you the best. If you feel like your best self right after a haircut, then by all means, get that haircut before your session!
I’ll always get in touch with you a few days before your session to finalize details. This is also a good time to check the forecast. But if it looks like there’s going to be inclement weather the day of your session, then I’m always happy to reschedule the session OR we can go play in the rain! (just be sure to bring a change of clothes)
Absolutely! We encourage you to do this. As long as it's not interfering with the session itself, then get all the content you want! Bonus points if you mention the session and tag me.
What zit??? I got you! All of your photos will be individually edited, and this includes light retouching. My rule of thumb is this: if it won't be there in two weeks (think anything like zits, rashes, broken nails, etc.), I'll edit it out.

This is another common question. It is up to you at the end of the day, but I always recommend a park or somewhere with cool architecture around and multiple photo opportunities. If you're graduating from college, your college campus is always a great option, but you absolutely do not have to do the session there if you don't want to! We'll pick a location and then walk from place to place taking portraits as we go. We find lots of cool spots to take pictures that way. It really is up to you. You can even choose more than one location. There is a $25 location fee for each additional location you choose (a location is as a place you must drive to). If we are just walking around a single location, there is no additional charge.
I probably get asked this question the most! Ideally wear what you like and, most importantly, what you feel comfortable in. I try to help families plan outfits based on location, but neutrals are almost always my recommendation. Outfits play a much bigger role in the overall look of the photos than most people think. Pinterest can be a great tool, and I'm always here to help!
